J.D. Vance

Who are they?

Before running for office, J.D. was perhaps best known as the author of Hillbilly Elegy, a memoir of his upbringing in rural Ohio. He is a Marine veteran and became a successful venture capitalist before winning his Senate seat.

Pre-Congress?

He served as a principal at conservative venture capitalist Peter Thiel’s firm and then joined an investment firm founded by the AOL cofounder as an investment partner. He is a former CNN contributor before co-founding his own venture capital firm in 2019 with the backing of Thiel and one of Silicon Valley’s most notable investors Marc Andreessen.
